Day 1 Morning: Alfama & the Castle
Start early in Alfama, Lisbon's oldest neighbourhood. Climb to the SĂŁo Jorge Castle for panoramic views over the terracotta rooftops and the Tagus River.
Day 1 Afternoon: Baixa & Chiado
Take the famous ElĂ©trico 28 tram down to Baixa. Walk up to Chiado for coffee at A Brasileira, one of Lisbon's oldest cafĂ©s. Stop at the Livraria Bertrand â the world's oldest operating bookshop.
Day 1 Evening: Bairro Alto & Fado
Head to Bairro Alto for dinner and stay for Fado. The haunting Portuguese folk music is best heard at small, intimate restaurants. Expect to pay âŹ25â40 per person including dinner and a drink.
Day 2 Morning: Belém
Take the tram to Belém for the Tower of Belém and the Jerónimos Monastery (UNESCO World Heritage Site). Do not leave without eating a pastel de nata at the original Pastéis de Belém bakery.
Day 2 Afternoon: LX Factory & Time Out Market
