Amsterdam has the Rijksmuseum, Anne Frank House, Van Gogh Museum and a canal network that's a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Copenhagen has the National Museum, Louisiana Modern Art Museum and the colourful Nyhavn harbour. Both are extraordinary — edge to Amsterdam for sheer volume.
Food Scene
Copenhagen wins on food. It's home to more Michelin stars per capita than almost any other city. The New Nordic cuisine movement started here. Street food at Reffen is world-class. Amsterdam's food is good but less distinctive.
Cost
Amsterdam is slightly cheaper overall, though both are expensive by European standards. Budget €100–150/day in Amsterdam, €130–180/day in Copenhagen.
Getting Around
Both cities are incredibly cycle-friendly. You can rent a bike in either city for around €15/day and see everything at your own pace.
