How We Create & Fact-Check Our Content

WhatWhereVacay is an independent travel-planning site. We help you compare hotels, flights and bus routes across the major booking providers, and we publish destination guides, food guides and travel tips to make planning easier.

Our editorial process

Every piece of editorial content — destination guides, dish guides, comparisons and blog posts — is researched from public sources before it is written. Those sources include official tourism boards, transport operators, booking providers and widely used reference works. Our writers draft each piece, then a human editor reviews it for accuracy, clarity and usefulness before it is published.

How we use AI

Some of our content is drafted with the assistance of AI and then reviewed and edited by a human before publishing. We disclose this clearly — see our AI Disclosure and the per-page labels. AI output can contain errors, which is why a human always checks it and why we encourage you to verify time-sensitive details (prices, opening hours, availability) directly with the provider before you book.

How our food ratings work

Dish pages carry two separate signals:

  • Editorial rating — a score our editors assign based on how widely loved, distinctive and historically significant a dish is.
  • Visitor Score — the average of reviews and ratings left by real travellers, shown only when people have actually reviewed the dish.

We never fabricate ratings. If a dish has no visitor reviews, we say so rather than inventing a score.

Corrections and feedback

We make mistakes, and we fix them. Every dish and restaurant page has a way to flag an error or leave a review, and you can always reach us through the contact page. When content is updated, the page's “last updated” date changes so you can see how current it is.

How we make money

WhatWhereVacay is free to use. We earn a commission when you click through to a booking provider and make a purchase — that never changes what we recommend or how we write about a place. Full details are in our Affiliate Disclosure.
